Grandpa (SFX Mask) Shirt
The John Dugan “Grandpa” mask was plastic surgeon W.E. Barnes’ first venture into the world of special effects make-up. Creating and applying each mask required an intensive five-hour process, and the filmmakers were limited to 3 masks. Because they were glued on with spirit gum and disintegrated during removal, they were single-use. The infamous Dinner Table scene, the last of Dugan’s scenes and the last of the “Grandpa” masks, became a 32-hour marathon shoot.
